Who is Roswaal in Re:Zero?

Roswaal L. Mathers is the lead court magician of the Kingdom of Lugnica. He has the ability to manipulate super-grade magic at his will and has the combat power of a war weapon. He is described by those around him as an eccentric with a royalty. Roswaal wears the make-up of a clown, which he says it is a costume for war. He is helping Emilia to become the king.
